Liquavista, is developing a new type of electronic display technology called “electrowetting.” Electrowetting technology has the potential to create bright and colorful images that ensure excellent indoor and outdoor readability while using less battery power than traditional displays.
The displays create bright and colorful images that ensure excellent indoor and outdoor readability; use dramatically less battery power and therefore offer a truly mobile multimedia experience for the consumer. Customers can use their devices longer before a recharge is necessary and battery sizes can be reduced allowing devices to be thinner and lighter.
Liquavista's technology is the only solution, other than LCD, which can operate in three modes but with significantly increased optical performance. Described as LCD 2.0, our technology is simply an upgrade for existing manufacturing facilities and is more than 90% compatible with standard LCD manufacturing equipment and processes. This enables our partners to quickly re-use their manufacturing assets to develop our displays and bring exciting, highly differentiated products to life with both enhanced usability and performance.
The company's ultimate vision is to build on the extraordinary optical performance and unique power efficiency of its technology to lead a green revolution in low power displays, extending beyond mobile devices to all devices requiring a display.
Liquavista was founded in 2006 as a spin-out from the world famous Philips Research Labs in Eindhoven.
